Kotobuki Seating Co. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Shigeyuki Fukazawa and Keiko Fukazawa; hereafter "the Company") is proposing renewal of existing hotels into "group rooms created with capsule beds," which will help increase their profitability. We have recently established an area in our showroom in Surugadai, Kanda, that reproduces a guest room that can accommodate a group of four people. Capsule beds manufactured by our company are used for sleeping in the rooms, and the beds are private rooms where privacy is maintained.

Background of the Group Room Proposal
In addition to the acceleration of inbound travel, the number of domestic travelers is also on the rise due to the popularity of guesswork activities such as pilgrimages to sacred places and expeditions. Nowadays, many information is available via smartphones and PCs, and travel reservations can be easily made. As the world's needs have changed from "consumption of goods to consumption of things," and the cost and content of a single trip have also changed, we often hear that there are not enough places to stay that fit our needs. Especially for groups of three or more traveling together, the number of hotels that can accommodate them is limited. You may end up in an apartment hotel or a luxurious group room, or you may have to deal with a cot in a twin room, etc. There are few options and few "just right" guest rooms.
To address this situation, we propose "comfortable group rooms with capsule beds," which can be realized by renovating existing twin rooms without changing the size of the room.
Characteristics of "Group Rooms with Capsule Beds
The size of the group room is assumed to be equivalent to a twin room in a typical hotel. Two capsule beds are placed along both sides of the wall, and the living space is located behind the capsule beds.
In the living room space, guests can discuss the day's events, the next day's strategy meeting, and discussions about their guesses and other topics unique to traveling. On the other hand, unlike ordinary bunk beds, capsule beds are surrounded by solid walls, so you can enjoy your alone time in the bed while ensuring your privacy. This makes it convenient for you to enjoy chatting in the living room space without being overly concerned if someone is already asleep. This is a group room where "individual" and "together" can coexist.

Advantages of the renewal of "Group Rooms with Capsule Beds
By renovating a room while maintaining its floor space, existing walls can be used, eliminating the need for extensive construction work and a long renovation period. Also, by doubling the number of guests, an increase in total revenue can be expected even if the unit price per guest is reduced. The occupancy rate can also be expected to increase, as it will be easier to use for training camps and training sessions, which were difficult to accommodate with the conventional guest room configuration.
Capsule beds can be relocated as needed, allowing for flexibility in changing locations and layouts to accommodate changes in the facility.
