ICA Japan and Ukrainian Women's Geopolitical Alliance for Gender Equality and Peacebuilding Participate in CSW69 Commission on the Status of Women & Courtesy Visit to the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations and Charity Event

At the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) to be held in New York from Monday, March 10 to Friday, March 21, 2025, ICA Japan (ICA International Cultural Exchange Association) and the Ukrainian Women's Geopolitical Alliance will hold a joint conference to strengthen women's leadership and peace building in the international community. The two organizations will jointly participate in a variety of activities aimed at strengthening women's leadership and peacebuilding in the international community. These activities are meaningful in that they aim to deepen cooperation between Japan and Ukraine and shape concrete actions to solve global issues.

Women leaders from Japan and Ukraine will gather to exchange views on women's leadership and peaceful approaches in a sustainable society. As a member of the Japanese delegation, they will also demonstrate their intention to achieve a world of equal opportunities regardless of gender through policy recommendations at the UN and multilateral cooperation.

This event is attracting attention as a new attempt to build peace through art in Japan and Ukraine.

March 13 (Thursday): Visit to the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations (held at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations headquarters)

The ICA Japan delegation and the Ukrainian delegation will pay a courtesy call on the Japanese delegation to the CSW69 conference, which will serve as an opportunity to encourage Japanese women leaders to play a more active role in the international arena and contribute to world peace efforts while upholding the dignity and values of Japan.

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation will express its gratitude for the support of the Japanese government and society, and in return mutual cultural exchanges will be promoted. This initiative will contribute to building a strong partnership between the two countries.

Participation in CSW69 is an important opportunity to symbolize the peace diplomacy that Japan has built in the international community, and ICA Japan's efforts, based on the spirit of "harmony," will facilitate joint work with the UN and other countries to develop women leaders and to create a society that respects cultural diversity. In addition, the knowledge and networks gained through CSW69 are expected to be returned to policy formation and efforts to resolve social issues in Japan and abroad.

ICA Japan has promoted a wide range of initiatives to deepen relations between Japan and Ukraine, including educational support projects and exchange events. In particular, the "Women's Leadership and Peace Forum" held in Japan in November 2023 was a great success, providing an opportunity for mutual understanding through exchanges with Sophia University and elementary schools in Yokohama. It is hoped that efforts to further develop the outcomes of this conference will continue.

In today's society, women's leadership is becoming more important than ever. In an era that demands diversity and inclusiveness, women leaders are able to use their unique perspectives and empathy to breathe new life into organizations and communities. Women, who excel at flexible problem-solving, bring innovative leadership styles and continue to challenge themselves without fear of change.
