LIVE PASSENGER in Shodoshima
About the exhibition
Shodoshima is a small island in the Seto Inland Sea.
The island was the setting for the movie "Twenty-Four Eyes," and the movie village still carries on the memory of the movie and the traditions of soy sauce and tsukudani (food boiled in soy sauce) are quietly passed down from generation to generation.
However, it is not just the nostalgic scenery that is the focus of this photo exhibition, "LIVE PASSENGER - Living in the midst of it all.
The people who live on the island, the people who visit the island and the people who leave the island, each one of them is a "Live Passenger" living in the "now" of the passing time.
Photographer Shintaro Yoshikawa has captured the life stories of each of these people and the irreplaceable feelings that reside within them.
Living in the Present as a Passenger
Message from photographer Shintaro Yoshikawa
No one can stop the flow of time.
We are all travelers living in the midst of time that flows without stopping, and each of us is vividly shining at that moment.
When you touch the gaze and appearance of the people in the photographs, you will surely feel the revival of important memories and thoughts that you have almost forgotten.
Through the stories of the "passers-by" who intersect on the small stage of Shodoshima, this exhibition quietly questions the meaning of life's journey, the preciousness of memory, and the beauty of the "now" moment.
This exhibition is dedicated to all those who continue the journey of life.
