A social worker with 26 years of administrative experience in Ogawa-machi, Saitama Prefecture, renovated her family's old house and opened a community café with a lifetime support function. Facing the issues of isolation and aging in the community, she aims to create a place where anyone can feel free to drop by. A new challenge has begun to realize a community symbiosis society where local residents support each other and where smiles and humming overflows.

Background
Today, local communities in Japan are facing an unprecedented crisis.
The rapid aging and shrinking of the population are shaking the very foundations of the communities in which we live. The number of single-person households is on the rise, community ties are fraying, and the Corona disaster is dividing people. These problems are no longer temporary phenomena, and the vitality of our communities is steadily being eroded. If this situation continues, even the sustainability of local communities will be in jeopardy.
We wanted to address these issues through a "café," a place where anyone can casually drop by. A base where local residents can naturally gather, interact, and support each other. And a place where people can find an opportunity to ease their anxiety about the future by providing support for end-of-life planning. We are taking on the challenge of creating a new type of community using old private homes in the local community.
Features
What happens in the community is your business.
In many cases, local issues tend to be viewed as someone else's problem to be solved by someone else or handled by the government. However, the diverse and complex issues we face today, such as the isolation of the elderly and the increase in vacant houses, can no longer be solved by the government or specialized agencies alone.
The goal of this café is to be a place where each and every local resident realizes that "there is something they can do," and can participate in community activities by making the most of their respective areas of expertise.
A comfortable space where local residents can stop by casually.
A base where residents can connect with each other and work together to solve problems.
A place where people can be monitored to prevent isolation and a place where people can receive support for living without nursing care insurance.
A support center where people can consult about their life-long activities.
A place where the elderly can feel secure by providing lifelong support.
A place where people can feel safe and secure in their lifetime.
The café will not only provide daily food and beverages, but also plans a variety of activities to revitalize the community.
○Programs for people who wish to live in the countryside, experience agriculture, and immigrate to the area
○ Cross-industrial exchange events to expand community businesses
○Promoting local attractions to hikers from outside the town
○International exchange events to interact with foreign residents
○End-of-life ending seminars and end-of-life support information sessions* Examples of usage scenarios and users

Organizer's vision
<Creating the Future of the Community Together
This project is not limited to one particular district, but addresses the regional issues of the entire town. Various local revitalization and community-building movements have begun in various areas, and I would like to be a part of them.
In the coming era, it will be important for each and every one of us residents to have a sense of ownership and an attitude of working together to solve local issues, rather than leaving them to someone else.
I hope you will understand the significance of this initiative. I hope that you will feel that the creation of a comfortable third place where everyone can easily gather is a meaningful and necessary initiative for communities across the country that are facing similar local issues.
