Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, one of the world's leading mountain tourism routes connecting Toyama and Nagano prefectures (operated by Tateyama Kurobe Kanko Co., Ltd.; head office: Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture), will hold a series of events from June 1 (Sunday) to celebrate the debut of the Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus, which will be in operation from April 15 (Tuesday), 2025.

About the Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus

The Tateyama Tunnel Electric Bus is scheduled to start operation on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, replacing the Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus, which will operate between Murodo and Daikanbo until 2024. It will inherit the headmark of the trolleybus, and will also reuse the "passport" used for the diesel bus operation, thus connecting the "history" of the trolleybus to the next generation. About the project in collaboration with Studio Chizu

As the second phase of the collaboration project with Studio Chizu that began in 2024, three of the eight Tateyama Tunnel trolley buses will be equipped with a special display featuring the scenery of Tateyama Kurobe, the famous mountainous area in Tateyama Prefecture, as part of the "Wolf Children and Tateyama Kurobe" project. Three of the eight Tateyama Tunnel Electric Buses are decorated with special designs based on the animated movie "Wolf Children" in which many scenes from Tateyama Kurobe appear. In conjunction with the operation of the specially designed buses, a panel exhibition will be held in the Murodo Terminal to introduce the scenes from the movie and the actual scenery of Tateyama Kurobe.

What is the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route?

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is one of the world's most famous mountain tourism routes located in Tateyama, Chubu-Sangaku National Park. Visitors can easily enjoy the spectacular views of the 3,000-meter-high Tateyama Mountain Range and Kurobe Dam by taking one of six different vehicles, including cable cars, buses, and ropeways, between Tateyama Station in Toyama Prefecture and Ogisawa Station in Nagano Prefecture.

Operating period in 2025 (tentative): April 15 (Tuesday) to November 30 (Sunday)
