Redwood Mission (located in Isahaya City, Nagasaki, Japan; President: Dr. Shinoyoshi, M.D.) is implementing a project to improve maternal mortality rates by introducing a remote maternal abdominal ultrasound system in Malawi.
The project is a crowdfunding project to "change the 70-fold mortality rate in Malawi, the world's poorest country, and create a future where medical care is self-driven.
Remote Pregnancy Abdominal Echocardiography System Introduction Project
Development Background
Malawi, the poorest country in Africa, has a maternal mortality rate 70 times higher than that of Japan. One of the reasons for the high maternal mortality rate is inadequate maternal health checkups. Pregnant women must walk several hours or half a day to a clinic for a checkup, and clinics do not have abdominal ultrasound to determine the condition of the fetus. The clinics do not have abdominal ultrasounds to determine the condition of the fetus, and they are forced to rely on foreign aid to maintain the medical system.
Future Prospects
What we are aiming to introduce to Malawi this time is SPAQ, a remote pregnant woman abdominal echo medical examination system established in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The system allows trained nurses to operate the system and share the screen with doctors at the central hospital via the Internet. Trained nurses can travel to the community to perform abdominal echo examinations on pregnant women, and when abnormalities are detected, the images can be shared with a central doctor who can make a diagnosis and order emergency surgery. Along with the establishment of this medical system, we aim to gain sustainability of the medical system by incorporating social business methods.
Our goal is 10,000,000 yen, but as of April 8, we have raised 3,229,100 yen. The final day is April 30.
