With the retirement of Mr. Tajima off Tajima Kaibai Factory, who has been manufacturing "Kaibai SHIKKUI" for many years, our company, BAUBIO Japan Corporation, has decided to officially take over the business.
Tajima Kaibai Factory was the last plaster manufacturer in Kyushu Japan to use shells from the Ariake Sea, and over the years has continued to preserve its valuable techniques and traditions.
We have firmly inherited their passion and will continue to work on the production of high-quality materials.
We will continue to strive for a more stable supply and improved quality to make your home building experience more secure and affluent than ever before.
Report on the adoption results
Plaster made from recycled seashells, which would otherwise be discarded, is used as a finishing material for the walls.
As part of our commitment to sustainable construction, "KURA Sushi Osaka Kansai Expo" adopted our natural building material, "Kaibai SHIKKUI".
The restaurant uses plaster walls made from 336,000 shells that were to be disposed of and no artificial materials are used.
The disposal of shells can lead to environmental problems such as ocean dumping and leaving them on vacant lots, so this initiative deserves attention from the perspective of recycling resources and reducing environmental impact.
We are honored that our building materials were chosen for this initiative.
BAUBIO Japan Corporation will continue to contribute to a sustainable future, aiming to realize a society where the environment and architecture are in harmony through "building materials friendly to humans and the earth.

"Kaibai SHIKKUI," , a building material that is friendly to both people and the earth and contributes to the SDGs
"Kaibai SHIKKUI" is a 100% natural wall covering made of calcined shellfish ash from red clams landed in the Ariake Sea Japan, hemp tin (plant fiber), seaweed glue, and water.
Plaster, a traditional painted wall material, has recently been reevaluated for its humidity control, deodorizing, and air purifying properties, and is attracting renewed attention as a sustainable building material.
