MARUYOSHI Co., Ltd. (Sumida-ku, Tokyo), a long-established factory specializing in dog toys, has launched an advance sale of "Luminas for dog/cat (Luminas)," a collar for dogs and cats made of light-storing leather, on the crowdfunding site "Makuake" from June 2, 2025.

Luminas is a new concept pet accessory that stores everyday light and emits light gently at night.

Through this project, which reached its target amount within 3 days of its launch, we have taken a new step forward as a company that manufactures and sells its own products from a factory specializing in OEM.

Background of Development

In 2023, an acquaintance of mine asked me for a collar that glows without electricity for disaster prevention.

Life with pets today is evolving from merely "keeping" to "living together.

The developer planned this product with the idea of "having an item that is both safe and beautiful.

After many prototypes, searching for light-storing leather and consulting with a leather shop, "Luminas" was finally completed as an item that combines practicality and design.

Luminas" is made of a special light-storing leather that stores light when exposed to sunlight or room light during the day and emits a faint light in the dark.

There is no need to change batteries or recharge the batteries, and the natural mechanism of "wearing light" supports safety and security at night.

The design of the watch is also carefully considered, with a delicate plant pattern stamped into the clean, white leather. The gold foil logo on the back side gives it an elegant appearance that enhances the pet's attractiveness.

This is an original brand of MARUYOSHI Ltd. created as a result of this project.

The name "elemore" is a coined word from "evermore" and "lumen" (Latin for "light"), with the wish that "precious time will be eternal light".

Maruyoshi Ltd. was founded in 1958 as a leather glove manufacturer, and this year marks its 67th anniversary.

The company then began manufacturing leather belts, and about 40 years ago also began manufacturing dog gear such as collars, leads, and harnesses.

We manufacture our products at our own factory in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, using manufacturing methods that have been handed down from parent to child.

Currently, there are no successors and the number of traditional craftsmen continues to decrease because the production base of products has been moved overseas and the population of handicraft and manufacturing industry is not increasing much compared to other industries.

Because I am the third generation in such a slanting industry, I started this crowdfunding campaign because I wanted to send out a message that would serve as a small gateway to the fun of craftsmanship.

I will use this opportunity to challenge myself as a successor to preserve for future generations the skills that are being lost, the Japanese-made machines and tools that are no longer being made, and the craftsmanship that has been cultivated by generations of artisans.
