Commercial Manga & Weekly Magazine at Age 61! Manga artist who made his debut as a serial cartoonist started a kurafan to produce a sequel!

chiku, a manga production unit based in Osaka, Japan, which was active at the Osaka-Kansai Expo in May 2025, has launched a project to support the production of "Baku-chan no Yume no Kuni" - Act 2, a web manga that combines a picture book-like worldview with a vertical scrolling production style. The project aims to raise funds for production through crowdfunding to produce and release 16 new episodes.

chiku" has been drawing advertising manga and independent manga mainly in the Kansai area. His debut commercial manga & weekly serialization was "Baku-chan no Yume no Kuni" (Baku's Dreamland), and his age at that time was 61, which was featured on Togetter and recommended by X. What is "Baku-chan's Dreamland"?

Baku-chan no Yume No Kuni" is a story about Baku-chan, a boy who pursues his dreams, and his friends who face difficulties and grow up in a closed amusement park. It features unique characters and a fantastic worldview, and its innovative vertical-scrolling presentation invites readers to a new manga experience.

Up to now, a total of 25 episodes of this work have been distributed by Bunkyosha on e-book stores by popular demand, and it has been highly acclaimed by manga artist Mitsuru Sugaya and a wide range of readers of all ages.

■Outline of the Production Support Project

This project is to raise funds for the production of "BAKU-chan no Yume no Kuni" - Act 2 - through crowdfunding. In order to continue the production, 180,000 yen per episode is needed, and the goal is to raise a total of 3,000,000 yen for the production of all 16 episodes.

■Supporters will also receive returns such as portraits that were very popular at the Osaka/Kansai Expo.

Project Background

The original idea for this work was based on our experience at Nara Dreamland, which was located in Nara Prefecture until 2006. Born from a desire to share memories of the amusement park with as many people as possible, "Baku-chan no Yume no Kuni" conveys the power of positive dreams and the importance of friendship.

chiku" is also the unit of Kenichi Chikuhama, a certified event operations manager, and his wife Kazuko, who is in charge of drawing and coloring. Their work has received high acclaim, including an Encouragement Award in the Manga Division of the Japan Media Arts Festival in the past.
