Kishu Tokugawa's World Class Musical Heritage! The 100th Anniversary Concert of Nan-Aoi Music Library Held at the Sogakudo of the former Tokyo Music School! ~ Pipe Organ and Storehouse Concert~!

As the Nan-Aoi Music Library will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025, commemorative concerts will be held at the former Tokyo Music School Sogakudo (Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo) on October 2 (Thu.) and 3 (Fri.), 2025, as shown in the attached sheet.

About "The 100th Anniversary Concert of the Minamiaoi Music Library

The pipe organ imported from England during the Taisho period (1912-1926) by Yorisada Tokugawa, the 16th head of the Tokugawa family of Kishu, has been relocated to the Sogakudo Hall of the former Tokyo Music School, which is also an important cultural property. The concert featuring the sound of the oldest working pipe organ in Japan and a program related to the Nan-Aoi Music Library is historically significant.

About Nan Aoi Music Library

The Nan-Aoi Music Collection, a world-class music resource that was originally housed in the Nan-Aoi Music Library, will return to its home in Wakayama next year to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Currently, the collection is stored at the Wakayama Prefectural Library and other libraries, where specialists are conducting research and maintenance, and its value is being reevaluated as a cultural heritage that brought the foundation of Western music to Japan. In response to this trend, the Nan-Aoi Music Collection Promotion Association was established in April of this year.

The "Minami Aoi! Concert in the City".

The "Minami-Aoi! Concert in the Town" will be held in Tokyo in order to promote the cultural value of the foundation in Japan and the world, as well as to create momentum in the prefecture! Machinaka Concert" will be held. The free concert will be held 10 times a year in Wakayama, Nara, Kobe, Osaka, and Kyoto.

The "Minami Aoi! Machinaka Concert," a digital stamp rally will be held, and participants will receive points for participating. Also, "Minamiaoi Tokugawa Music School" and other events held at the Wakayama Prefectural Library will also share the same points, allowing visitors to become familiar with the Minamiaoi Music Library while learning and listening to music. These events are supported by many culture and music lovers as well as local performers. Supportive volunteer and donation solicitation activities are also planned.
