Authentic Japan Shunme, an Internationally Acclaimed Lacquerware Brand from Toyama, Has Released a Video on YouTube to Showcase Its Latest Creations

Authentic Japan Shunme, based in Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture, is a brand of genuine Japanese lacquerware crafted with all-natural materials using traditional techniques. On July 28, 2025, the brand released two short introductory videos on YouTube: "Playing with Miyabi" and "Jouer avec Shikki."

On the award-winning creations

Authentic Japan Shunme, a series of lacquerware produced by Yukino Shunme using natural materials and traditional techniques, has been highly acclaimed on the international stage for three consecutive years. Among them, “Jouer avec Shikki” and “Playing with Miyabi” respectively feature the reflective beauty of makie art and mother-of-pearl inlay. Although the charm of the reflections and movements of makie art and mother-of-pearl inlay cannot be compared to the real thing, two short videos were created and distributed on YouTube to give viewers a brief look at the work..

In the future, following the style of "Jouer avec Shikki" and "Playing with Miyabi," Yukino Shunme will continue to focus on presenting works that pursue the original usability of lacquerware and the beauty of luster, and she also plans to sequentially release videos starting in early September, offering a brief glimpse into her trips to overseas award ceremonies she has attended.
