Crowdfunding

Background of the project

With the declining birthrate in Japan, loneliness and career uncertainty among mothers raising children have become serious social issues. We, "Ayaska Cafe Koiwa", have been working for 5 years after the Corona disaster, aiming to create a place where local families raising children and local businesses and organizations can support each other by serving as a hub.

Now, through crowdfunding, we are taking the next phase of our activities to connect that place to the future. We hope that many of you will support us in this endeavor.

According to the "2023 White Paper on Measures for Society with a Decreasing Birthrate" published by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, "isolation of households raising children" and "lack of community support" are among the factors contributing to the declining birthrate. It was also revealed that even with advances in support for balancing work and child rearing, the current situation remains where women are forced to give up their careers after childbirth or child rearing (see *Source 1).

Ayaska Cafe Koiwa continues to be there at the "water's edge" of these issues, in other words, one step before support becomes necessary. We have launched this crowdfunding campaign with the aim of realizing a society that is warm and supportive of child-rearing.

About Ayaska Cafe Koiwa

Ayaska Cafe Koiwa, located near JR Koiwa Station, is a community cafe that supports both childcare and entrepreneurship, and is visited by approximately 7,500 babies and mothers annually. Aya Nomura, a former Disney cast member and a human resource development instructor at a major company, opened the cafe in 2020, drawing on her own child-rearing experience.

Many families nowadays are faced with "lonely parenting" and are struggling to choose between "career or childcare. We aim to create a new social infrastructure that supports the balance between child-rearing and career, by creating a safe place in the community where anyone can feel free to drop in, and by collaborating with government, businesses, and local organizations.

Features of Ayaska Cafe

A childcare support center with a proven track record

More than 7,500 families use the facility annually, which offers baby food, diaper changing space, and homemade meals.

Operation of the community exchange circle "Ayas Moms

Fosters community connections through nursery school information meetings, "KOIWA Children's Halloween," and other events.

Also provides support for business startups and careers.

Support for business startups and individual consulting services are provided to help employees balance childcare and self-fulfillment.

Achievements in the region

Distributed 200-300 baby meals for school lunches that would otherwise have gone to waste, in response to a referral from the Edogawa Ward Child Rearing Support Division.

Participated in the "Koiwa Park Cafe" park event for two consecutive years at the request of the Edogawa Ward Parks Division.

At the request of a local maternity hospital, we held a mini-concert for families raising children.

In cooperation with a local development organization, participated in the "Koiwa Children's Halloween" parade with mothers.

Future Prospects

In the future, we will expand the number of lectures, tours, and training programs, and collaborate with government, businesses, and local organizations with the keyword "people connecting, people nurturing". We will expand the movement to support child-rearing as an issue for society as a whole.

Message.

While the number of government and corporate child-rearing support programs is increasing, Ayaska Cafe has been a source of daily support for parents who are experiencing loneliness and career anxiety before these issues become apparent. We will continue to deepen our cooperation with the local community and government, and take one step at a time to make the entire community, and Japan as a whole, a child-rearing-friendly society.

The government alone cannot complete child-rearing support. Ayaska Cafe wants to create a place where parents and children can meet "here and now" together with local communities, companies, and support groups. Together, we will build a warm society for child-rearing in the entire community.
