About Good Design Award

The Good Design Award is Japan's only comprehensive design evaluation and recommendation system, which has been familiarized with the "G Mark" for more than 60 years and works to improve people's lives and society through design. The Good Design Award was established in 1957 by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) as the predecessor of the Good Design Product Selection System. The award emphasizes the resolution of issues through design and its significance to people and society, and serves as proof of designs that improve society.

■About the new electric fully automatic opening/closing "Smart Jay Auto Light

The conventional electric automatic folding umbrella, which was released in 2016 and attracted mass media attention, was large and weighed 500g, making it inconvenient to carry.

The new model is smaller and lighter, weighing approximately 300g, a 40% reduction. The new model is also more affordable, with a planned retail price starting at 9,800 yen. The new umbrella is ideal for women and people with physical disabilities. With just one finger and the push of a button, the umbrella extends, opens, and retracts as it closes, creating an unprecedented sensation of folding.

The connector is Type C, life waterproof, and can be opened and closed 150 times on a single charge. The battery is a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, 240mAh, 11.1V, CE certified for safety standards.

Currently, a sunny/rainy weather version is being developed on Makuake, a support purchase service.
