The Japan–Austria Society for Cultural  Exchange ~Kleine Krone (Representative: Makiko Krone, Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku,  Tokyo) will perform at the Austria Pavilion Presents “Weekend of Viennese Ball  Dances” event at Expo 2025 Osaka.

Austria—the land of art and culture. The  capital city, Vienna, is home to the world-famous, glamorous ball culture.  Surely, everyone has dreamed at least once of stepping into this graceful  world.

In this special official program by the  Austria Pavilion, we will present the Viennese waltz, danced at actual balls,  and the group dance “Quadrille” to famous tunes such as Johann Strauss’s The  Blue Danube. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience simple  waltz steps on the spot.


The performers are members of the  Japan–Austria Society for Cultural Exchange ~Kleine Krone, which has been  introducing Austrian culture and Viennese ball traditions for 25 years.

  Come and experience the “Austria Pavilion presents - The World of the Ball,”  adorned with beautiful gowns and tailcoats, at Expo 2025!

About Japan-Austria Cultural Exchange Society - Kleine Krone

Kleine Krone was founded in November 2000 as Kleine Krone (meaning "little crown"). We coordinate participation in the Viennese balls for those who yearn to attend, and we also send out debutantes*. In Japan, with the cooperation of the Austrian Embassy, she organizes various events such as ball seminars and social gatherings to enjoy Austrian culture, the "Vienna Ball in Tokyo", Quadrille dance, Wiener Waltz practice sessions, and other activities.

Profile of Representative: Makiko KRONE

Representative of the Japan-Austria Cultural Exchange Association~Kleine Krone. President of Japan Quadrille Dance Association. "At least once in my life!" She has traveled to Austria more than 50 times, and has participated in more than 120 balls, including the Vienna Opera Ball. She has also experienced as a Débutante. She has also been in contact with local aristocrats and descendants of the Habsburg family. She promotes Austrian culture and cultural exchange by holding various events.

In 2019, she appeared on a very popular TV show in Japan, "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai" (The World That Matsuko Doesn't Know). She appears monthly on the Town FM radio program, giving entertaining talks about Austrian and Viennese culture.
