Nanaka Kadokura, a senior at Seiei High School, won an award at the Nika Exhibition for her work "Hiiraishin.
Two of our students' works were selected out of three selected in Shizuoka Prefecture!
Our high school was founded in 1950.
In addition to the "Regular Course," the school currently offers four other courses: the "Preparatory Course," "Information Processing Course," and "Art Course," and graduates of these courses are active in a variety of fields beyond the local community.
The Art Course is divided into the Design Course, Painting Course, and Ceramics Course from the second year of high school and offers specialized classes, producing a large number of artists.
The ceramics major has well-equipped facilities, including gas and electric kilns. The gas kiln in particular is a large kiln with a length, width, and height of 1 meter, which is rare for a kiln installed in a high school, and students take on the challenge of creating large works of art.
The ceramics club offers tutorials twice a week by Mr. Tetsuya Kowari, a professional potter from Fujinomiya City.
Recently, works by Nanaka Kadokura and Yuzuki Yoshizumi, third-year art course students, were selected for the Nika Exhibition.
Of the 63 works selected for the Sculpture Division, three works from Shizuoka Prefecture were selected, two of which were by two of our students. This is the third year that a student's work has been selected for the Nika Exhibition, and the third consecutive year that a student's work has been selected. 2.
Nanaka Kadokura and Yuzuki Yoshizumi commented on their works
Nanaka Kadokura's work, "Hiiraishin," was created by Nanaka Kadokura, who loves video games, with the desire to give shape to the cool weapons in the game world in real life. We paid particular attention to the small, detailed parts of the decoration and the parts that resemble fish.
Kadokura commented.
I had the hardest time coming up with ideas and gathering materials. I painted the parts in colors other than yellow, such as blue and light blue, differently from the yellow parts so that they would be shiny. It was very difficult to dye the inside of the pipe-shaped tube and create small parts. I am very happy that my work was selected out of so many entries in the exhibition, which is not only for high school students but also for the general public.
Yuzuki Yoshizumi's work, "Drape," is draped all over so that it can be enjoyed from any angle. Gold metallic was used for the glaze, and in order to bring out the fluttering of the drapes, the entire piece was not illuminated, but polished mainly in spots where it would be illuminated by spotlights.
[Mr. Yoshizumi comments.
The work was large, and there were times when cracks appeared or parts of the work were missing, but thanks to your appropriate guidance and advice, I was able to complete the work successfully. The key point that I was particular about was the wavy fluttering at the top of the two layers of fluttering flutter. This was the first time for me to exhibit my work at the Nika Exhibition, and I was a little nervous, but I am very happy to have been selected for the award.
Drape" by Yuzuki Yoshizumi, a senior at Seiei High School, which won an Honorable Mention at the Nika Exhibition
