The Ryusei Ikebana Association will hold the "Ikebana Ryusei Exhibition: The Aspects of Plants 2025" at Shibuya Stream Hall (Shibuya, Tokyo) from November 21 (Fri.) to November 24 (Mon.), 2025 (holidays), where you can see the current form of ikebana, from classical styles to large contemporary ikebana works and small works that bring life to our daily lives. Ryusei School of Ikebana

Founded in 1886 by YOSHIMURA Kaun, the first headmaster of the school.

The current headmaster is the fourth generation YOSHIMURA Kashu.

He is committed to both ikebana in daily life and the transmission of classical flower arrangement based on the concept of "the aspects of the plant," in which the ikebana artist takes a sincere interest in each plant in his or her hands and captures its "aspects" to create a work of art.

The exhibition, which will be held in a hall directly connected to Shibuya Station, will feature a wide range of ikebana styles, from the classical to large-scale contemporary works, as well as small ikebana works that bring life into our daily lives.

In recent years, the Ryusei-ha has held its annual ikebana exhibition in the cultural center of Shibuya, and the 2025 exhibition will be held at the Shibuya Stream Hall, directly connected to Shibuya Station. This is a major exhibition organized by the headquarter of the ikebana school and held in the heart of Shibuya. Please enjoy the variations of ikebana expression.

Flowers hanging on a wall, decorating a windowsill, twining around a pillar, or floating in the light: explore the possibilities of botanical expression in a variety of settings.

The corner exhibition is a characteristic feature of the Ryusei-ha ikebana exhibition. Nine diverse corners will be on display, including paneled works hanging on the walls, works decorating windowsills, works that float fantastically in the light from below, and works using two types of pillars, red and white, 30 cm in diameter and 2 meters high, as their focal points.

Also on display will be traditional flower arrangements such as rikka, which traces its roots back to the Muromachi period (1333-1573), and seika, which spread among the townspeople during the Edo period (1603-1868), allowing visitors to view works created using a variety of techniques.

This philosophy, proposed by the third headmaster YOSHIMURA Kasen (1928-2015), is an important keyword that forms the basis of the Ryusei-ha.

The Ryusei Exhibition, a major exhibition organized by the headquarters of the Ryusei School, has a long history since the first exhibition was held in 1957.

People face the plants in their hands with a once-in-a-lifetime attitude and express themselves through their own unique perspective.

This attitude is the "aspects of plants," and it is the basic philosophy of the Ryusei-ha school, which has been carried through the genres of free-style flower arrangement and classical flower arrangement.

Through the many variations of the works exhibited here, visitors will be able to experience firsthand the underlying philosophy of the Ryusei-ha.
