Yamada Suisan Co. Project Background: Why Eels are the "Best Sauna Meal
With the recent sauna boom, "sauna rice," a post-sauna meal, is attracting increasing attention. Yamada Suisan has conducted research on the "ideal post-sauna meal" from a nutritional perspective, and confirmed that eels satisfy the requirements.
Yamada Suisan has confirmed that eels meet these requirements.

As the first step of the "Sauna Rice Project," "Yamada's Eel" menu will be offered at the popular sauna facility "Marcin Spa" in Sasazuka, Tokyo, from November 1, 2025.

Yamada's Eel" is a "drug-free eel" that is raised to be "healthy" without using any drugs such as antibiotics and synthetic antibacterial agents. In Shibushi City, Kagoshima Prefecture, where groundwater is abundant, professional eel farmers, "eel masters," who eat and sleep with eels 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, carefully raise eels one by one under the motto, "Be gentle to eels. Because they are healthy, there is no need to add extra ingredients or fat to their feed or force them to fatten up. The eels grow up to have delicious fat and firm flesh, as they should.
Our special production method
The eel is carefully grilled four times with sauce and grilled over charcoal to reproduce the craftsmanship of a specialty restaurant. The sauce is based on soy sauce aged in wooden barrels to bring out the best flavor of the eel.
