"WINA DAY" Report: Nongshim's "Shin Ramyun" × National Fire Agency Safety Campaign
An Example of Social Contribution Activities Contributing to a Prosperous Society in the Instant Noodle Industry
World Instant Noodles Association
The World Instant Noodles Association (WINA), a global industry association comprising instant noodle manufacturers from countries and regions worldwide, promotes "WINA DAY" as an industry-wide initiative to encourage social contribution activities by WINA member companies.
In Korea, November 9th is designated as "Firefighter’s Day," featuring events and activities to raise public awareness about fire safety. As part of its social contribution activities, WINA member company Nongshim is conducting a safety campaign in collaboration with the National Fire Agency, and the company announced that the cumulative total of fire alarms provided through the campaign has reached 40,000.

The "WINA DAY" Logo and Nongshim's Initiative
Since 2021, Nongshim has partnered with the National Fire Agency to carry out the “Safety Campaign,” an initiative aimed at raising awareness of the importance of fire safety and honoring the dedication of firefighters. Through the campaign, the company provides fire alarm installations for households of vulnerable groups, including elderly individuals living alone and people with disabilities. With the 10,000 units installed this year, the cumulative total of fire alarms provided through the campaign has reached 40,000.
To mark Firefighters’ Day, Nongshim donated the full model fees of fire captains Kim Su-ryun, Kim Ji-eun, and Lee Seung-hyo—who had served as “Hero Firefighter” models for Shin Ramyun—in accordance with the wishes of the models, contributing the funds to organizations supporting the families of fallen firefighters. In addition, the company strengthened the campaign’s impact by distributing kitchen fire extinguishing equipment, which helps prevent a major cause of large-scale fires, through a social media event.

As part of its "WINA DAY" initiative, WINA promotes social contribution activities across the industry. This includes sharing best practices like this one, where member companies engage in social contribution activities, with other member companies, and conducting fieldwork that encourages each company's activities.
<About "WINA DAY">
"WINA DAY" is an initiative to promote social contribution activities within the instant noodle industry. WINA has long facilitated knowledge sharing among its member instant noodle manufacturers worldwide in non-competitive areas, actively advancing efforts to address global challenges such as improving people's nutrition and health, preserving the global environment, ensuring food safety, and solving other social issues. Launched in August 2025, the "WINA DAY" initiative introduces efforts to address various global social issues under three themes: “Resilience” such as disaster prevention education and reconstruction support, “Comfort in dining” such as food sharing and children’s cafeterias so that everyone can eat with comfortability, and “Sustainability in the supply chains and communities” such as environmentally friendly sustainable business operations and support for small-scale farmers.
