さかえクリニック
Saekae Clinic (Director: Nobuhiro Suetake, M.D., Ph.D.), a cosmetic surgery and cosmetic dermatology clinic in Nishiki, Naka-ku, Nagoya City, has launched the "3D Skin Data Art Project," which utilizes 3D skin data acquired by the 3D skin analysis system "Aura" to explain cosmetic medicine and express art.

3D Skin Analysis System Aura
The system visualizes three-dimensional skin information from the face to the neck, and Nobu Suetake will use the data to create artworks as an artist, aiming to create a new approach where "medicine, technology, and art" intersect.

■Outline of release
Project name: 3D Skin Data Art Project
Location :Sakae Clinic (Nishiki, Naka-ku, Nagoya, Aichi) and online presentation of artwork
Main contents :
Production and exhibition of artworks using 3D skin analysis data by Aura
Comparison and explanation of the changes before and after cosmetic treatment as 3D images.
The project will consider collaboration with galleries, hotels, academic societies, symposiums, and other venues for future exhibitions.
This project is about visualization of skin conditions and artistic expression, and does not guarantee specific treatment effects.
About Aura, a 3D skin analysis system
Aura is a system that uses a combination of multiple cameras and lighting to capture images of the entire face, enabling the skin condition to be confirmed as a 3D image.
It visualizes the shape of the face and unevenness of the skin's surface in three dimensions, helping to confirm information such as the following

Analysis of pores
Variations in skin tone and redness trends
The appearance of blemishes and shadows
・Condition of pores, texture, and unevenness
∙ The appearance of wrinkles and volume changes, etc.
These are information to assist the physician's examination and explanation, and Aura itself does not perform diagnosis or treatment.
By comparing images before and after the treatment, it is expected to make it easier to share the trend of changes with patients.

Aura x Art
What is the "3D Skin Data Art Project"?
This project is an attempt to reconstruct 3D skin data visualized by Aura as a "kind of portrait" and reconstruct it as a work of art.
(1) Creation of artworks using 3D skin data as a motif
Based on information such as the contours of the face and the unevenness of the skin's surface, the artist creates works of art as abstract visuals and three-dimensional objects.
The work will be expressed in a variety of forms, including digital images, 3D prints, and mixed media works.
(2) Expression of changes before and after a procedure as a "record of time
In aesthetic medicine, it is important to explain the changes before and after a procedure in an easy-to-understand manner.
By using Aura's 3D images, the changes can be easily confirmed in three dimensions.
This project aims to preserve the "record of one's own change" in a new form by expressing the "data of change" as a work of art.
(3) Personal 3D skin portraits (future development)
In the future, we are considering the concept of creating and offering one-of-a-kind works of art (two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or digital) based on the Aura data of applicants.
However, this will be separated from diagnosis and treatment as medical treatment, and will focus on the aspect of artwork.

Background: Activities across medicine, engineering, and art
Nobu Suetake has been involved in clinical practice as a cosmetic surgeon for many years, and has also been active in many other fields, including autonomic nervous system research, sports medicine, and regenerative medicine.
Recently, as "The Davinci Art Project," he has been creating mixed media works incorporating anatomical motifs and technological elements (3D modeling, electronic components, metal parts, Roman glasses, etc.).
Just as Leonardo da Vinci created his works based on his knowledge of anatomy and engineering, today, it is possible to express art based on medicine, science, and digital technology.
The use of 3D skin data by Aura is an example of such an attempt to connect information generated in the medical field to art.
Future Development
Production and presentation of a series of artworks based on 3D data acquired by Aura
In the field of cosmetic medicine, Aura's 3D images will be used to convey the details of procedures and trends of change in an artistic and easy-to-understand manner.
Consideration of exhibition planning and collaboration at hotels, galleries, art-related events, academic societies, etc.
Planning of new experiential contents in collaboration with affiliated companies engaged in research and development in the autonomic nervous system and health care fields, etc.
3D Imaginng approach to the human face and body as a next-generation art form
